The Trustees, the General Manager and Heads of Department are committed to reducing the impact of the Nene Valley Railway's operations on the Environment.

This will be done in such a way that is complementary to the United Kingdom's commitment to sustainable developement and reducing the effects of climate change. This statement will be reviewed annually and revised as necessary.

The Nene Valley Railway (NVR) will strive to continually improve its environmental performance by:

* Meeting all relevant current statutory environment legislation that relates to the NVR.

* Reducing waste through the re-use and recycling of products & materials where possible.

* Encouraging staff and volunteers to work in an environmentally responsible manner and to play a full part in developing new ideas and initiatives.

* Communicating the NVR environmental policy and best practice to all staff, volunteers and general public.

* Co-operating with others in the public and private sectors to develop and promote environmentally sound practices.

* Operating in a responsible and co-oprative manner with local communities.

As Chairman I will ensure that the NVR take appropriate actions to achieve these ains and thereby contributes to the well being of the environment.
