Have a day out with your Classic Vehicle and enjoy the nostalgia of Britain's Railway past, from it's architecture and engineering to it's motive power. Enjoy a ride on the railway which largely follows the course of the River Nene.
NVR will be welcoming all Classic Vehicles and offering all classic car occupants a 50% reduction on NVR Rover tickets for use on the Gala day. Rover tickets allow unlimited travel on all of the 4train services of the day. You will also have free access to the Station and Platforms.
Special Rally Field parking will be available at Wansford Station for the first 80 classic cars to arrive. Other public parking is available at the Station, and all parking is free at NVR Wansford.
The Station Café will be open for morning coffee / tea, and serves hot and cold food all day. Alternatively, bring your own picnic to enjoy at Wansford’s riverside picnic area, or travel on the train to Ferry Meadows Country Park and enjoy your picnic there. Or just go for the train ride!
The Gala will be open from 9.30am with the first train departing at 10.00am for Yarwell. The first service to Peterborough departs at 10.20; the round trip to Peterborough takes about 65 minutes.
Steam is scheduled to be running on the day, subject to operational availability, and Thomas will be in attendance.
Maintenance of stock and locos is undertaken at Wansford in the maintenance sheds. We have arranged for a small number of guided tours of the maintenance sheds to see the work being undertaken, including the dismantling and rebuilding of locos. A suggested donation of £3 towards the rebuild costs will be appreciated for this tour, which takes about 40 minutes. Please book this on arrival at the Gala welcome desk in the Rally Field. Tours of the signal box may also be available, please enquire on arrival.
