Civil Engineering update July 2005
We currently have an interesting range of projects to both maintain, and importantly improve our railway. Some of these are:
Lynch river bridge -repainting and steelwork repairs of the 2 river spans was completed in May
New locopit pumped drainage system - not exactly appealing, but very necessary to ensure we comply with environmental legislation. Now being installed with capacity for the present and the future.
Platform 2 enhancement project - now in progress to provide greater circulation space and will give access for educational purposes to a locomotive footplate
Two new locopits on Road 3- to be started in the autumn
TASC 45 on-track machine- We have been collecting missing parts/spares from sister machines in Scotland, and now plan to commence restoration. Plassers have kindly provided us with windows and also Parts Manual, Servicing Manual, and Operating Manual. We have an extract from Network Rail's Sectional Appendix on their use on the network, that can be used as a basis for operating instructions on NVR.
