Updated 4th May 2008 - By Alex Alder Our full time C&W fitters, Karl Waterstone and John Whitehead have been working full time on this, externally the coach is now virtually complete.Another top coat of red will be applied, then black for the ends and lining / lettering remain. Inside, coats of varnish have been applied to half the coach, with only one or two more required. The other half of the coach is a storage area for it's seats – this will be cleared and varnished also. Then there will be upholstery and re-fitting. Anticipated to be ready for 2009. Updated 13th January 2008 - By Alex Alder This coach has been stood in the carriage siding part stripped. It is now back in the C&W for body repair and interior refit. It entered in September 2007, looking a little weathered. Sanding of paintwork revealed the previous liveries: original maroon; maroon again; grey undercoat; maroon again, blue grey; nvr blood and custard (pink undercoat) By January 2008 the external paint was complete, except for lining and black for the ends (Note John's walkway for the roof, with fold away wall mounted brackets) Scaffolding was put out the other side, for roof access. And the roof itself, with our paid carriage team, (L to R Karl, John and Ian). The interior is currently stripped and will need varnishing, refitting and re-upholstering.Once outshopped we will have a rake of six Mk1's in good external appearance becoming seven when Allan completes his TSO4466, hopefully by summer 2008. |
