 20th March 2008 | Thomas and the Travelling Post OfficeThe NVR have just undertaken a weekend of Thomas running with the Travelling Post Office. The event is the first time this has been undertaken and has proven to be very popular, to the point where all six trains ran to full capacity. The NVR are looking at running another weekend with Thomas on the Travelling Post Office this year, so watch for details in the near future.  10th March 2008 | Wemyss Austerity to visitKeith Parkinson reports: Hunslet Austerity, a powerful 0-6-0 saddle tank built to a wartime austerity design that latterly saw service as No. 15 on the industrial Wemyss Private Railway in Fife, Scotland has been booked to come to the Nene Valley Railway and will arrive on Monday 17th March. Owned by Andrew Goodman, No. 15 is a Hunslet-designed Austerity 0-6-0ST, one of 13 subcontracted to Andrew Barclay. One of only three of the Andrew Barclay-built examples to survive, it has just completed an extensive overhaul and very recently passed its boiler examination. The photo shows it hauling a train on the Gloucester & Warwickshire railway on Sunday 30th December 2007, its first weekend in public service. |
