Attention! Stand by your beds! Yes, it’s the superb annual 1940s Weekend! The era when men were men and ladies were feminine! Two battle re-enactments staged by the 39-45 Society each day inc train ambush! Frequent train service with German and British soldiers patrolling on the trains – beware of spies! Entertainers on the platform both days - including Fiona Harrison Displays by re-enactment groups and even child evacuees Trade stands - including Help for Heroes Wartime dinners in the Turntable Café - inc Rabbit Pie and Spam! Tank rides (courtesy of ‘Tanks 4 a ride’). ID cards issued with the tickets (to be checked on board the train) Intensive train service in operation All visitors most welcome to attend in period costume

Entertainers

Daytime Entertainment Fiona Harrison will be performing on the platform at Wansford on both days of the event. Each day will see three 45 minute performances. Evening Events Friday 24th September A Bavarian Bier Keller evening in the marquee at Wansford station. Karl’s Bavarian Brass, the leading Oompah band, will be playing! Fine beer and great night out! Tickets £8. Saturday 25th September The Spitfire Ball - An evening’s top entertainment in the marquee with Miss Katie Spitfire, The Forces Sweethearts and Keith Cross performing. 1940s’ dress encouraged! Bar and refreshments. Tickets £10. Sunday 26th September The Steaming 40s’ Film Show. A superb collection of vintage railway films. Bar and refreshments. Tickets – free – there will be a collection for a local charity. A superb evening for railfans.

Vintage bus service between Wansford Station and Sacrewell Farm

A vintage bus service will operate between the Nene Valley Railway and Sacrewell Farm. The service will be operated by a preserved 1960 AEC Routemaster bus. There is no charge, but passengers are only carried at the discretion of the driver or conductor. No food or drink may be consumed on the bus. Journey time is about 15 minutes and the round trip is less than 45 minutes. A timetable will be available shortly.
